Colour Vision Deficiency:

Approximately 1 in 12 males and 1 in 200 females are affected by Colour Vision Deficiency which can present some barriers to a child’s learning. The difficulty for schools is establishing which children in their school are affected by Colour Vision Deficiency. Subsequently, parents and guardians should be encouraged to have their child’s vision tested on a regular basis, the NHS guidelines state at least once every two years. Colour vision tests do not usually form part of the routine NHS eye test, but can be specifically requested.

Please refer to the poster and leaflet below for further information and recommendations to help children with this condition. The charity www.colourblindawareness.org is also a useful source of information on this subject.
